Headaches have many causes ranging from stress, inadequate stretching and water intake, certain foods or food additives, medication side effects, and hormone changes. For women with menstrual migraines, midlife and menopause hormone changes can be especially difficult, and not always rated to a high or low level, but the rate of change before a period when periods become irregular. Some women get relief from menstrual migraines with menopause and very low levels of estrogen, but other women do very well with a steady level of estrogen such as in menopause with hormone medication.
